This months historic player is none other than Sir Kenny Daglish or to Liverpool fans, KING KENNY.
This true legend made 515 apperances for Liverpool. Kenny managed to bag 172 goals, 167 assists and amassed a stunning 19 trophies. He is regarded as one of liverpools greatest players and we agree he transformed liverpools team and more than once he got us out of a bad spot. He even has a stand named after him at Anfield, the home of Liverpool FC.
In 1977, Dalglish joined Liverpool, where he quickly established himself as one of the best players in the world. He played as a forward and was beloved by the Liverpool fans for his incredible vision, dribbling skills, and clinical finishing. In his first season with Liverpool, he helped the club win the European Cup, scoring the winning goal in the final against Club Brugge. He went on to win numerous other trophies with Liverpool, including six First Division titles, two FA Cups, and four League Cups.
In 1985, Dalglish became player-manager of Liverpool, and he continued to lead the club to great success. He won three First Division titles, two FA Cups, and one League Cup in his time as manager, and he also helped the club win the UEFA Super Cup and the Football League Super Cup.
In April 1989, 96 Liverpool fans died in the Hillsborough disaster, and Dalglish became a beacon for the families of the victims and the entire Liverpool community. He attended the funerals of the victims and did everything he could to support the families during a difficult time and was a strong and powerful voice for Liverpool Football Club when many authority figures disgraced themselves with terrible lies and cover ups.
Dalglish departed Liverpool unexpectedly in 1991, affected by the long battle following Hillsborough. He will always be remembered as a true legend of the club. He is considered one of the greatest players in Liverpool’s history, and his legacy continues to inspire new generations of Liverpool fans (including LFCNews).
In 2005, he was inducted into the English Football Hall of Fame, and in 2009, he was knighted by the Queen for his services to football.
